Teaching Practice : Weekly Experience (Third Week)
DAY 9 (07/11/2022, Monday)
Reached the
school at 9:10am and signed the attendance register. Then I collected the
signature of Mini teacher in today’s lesson plan. A senior teacher of the school
asked me to attend the 10C class on the first period because their class
teacher, Maniyamma teacher was on leave. At first, I introduced myself to the class
and then asked them to introduce themselves. One of the students, Aswathy, sang
a beautiful song for us. I had 8L class at third period. Student teachers
Nashidha and Mayookha visited my class
for peer observation. I could easily convey the topic to my students. They all
were active during the whole class. After the lunch break, I didn’t have any
classes so I did some lesson plan works. The classes ended at 2:30pm because
there was a teacher’s meeting on curriculum reform. The teacher’s were divided
into different groups and each had a
leader. Each group was given some topics to discuss. The student teachers were
also asked to join each group. I joined the group 2. Shimna teacher and Rakhi
teacher were the group leaders. The other members of the group were Mini
teacher, Rakhi teacher and Nisha teacher. The topics given to our group were
‘Teacher Education’ and ‘Development of Quality Teaching Materials’. We
discussed on the topics. All the members of the group actively participated in
the discussion. After the discussion at 4pm I left the school.
DAY 10 (08/11/2022, Tuesday)
Reached
school at 9:10am and signed the attendance register. Today Remya miss visited
our school for observation. Remya miss checked the reflective journal, today’s
lesson plan and learning aids and then signed it all I collected the signature
of Mini teacher in today’s lesson plan. I had 9J class at third and fourth
period. I could effectively convey the topics to the students. The students
were very co-operative and they all done the activities correctly. Teacher
pupil interaction was maintained through out the class. After the class at
12:30pm, we served the mid day meal for the students after the lunch break, I
didn’t have any classes. So I did some
lesson plan works. After 3:30pm we left the school.
DAY 11 (09/11/2022, Wednesday)
Reached the
school at 9:10am and signed the attendance register. Sangeetha miss visited our
school for observation. I collected the signature of Mini teacher in today’s
lesson plan. I had 9J class at fourth period. Sangeetha miss observed my class.
The topic ‘Respiration in other Organisms’ was taken during the class. I could
effectively convey the topics to the students. The students were co-operative.
After my class, Sangeetha miss suggested that if I used mother tongue also then
the class would have been much better and the teacher pupil interaction was
mechanical. After the lunch break I had no classes. At 6th period I
visited Mayookha’s 8G class for peer observation. She had to pay more attention
in class room management and her content knowledge was less. After 3:30pm we
left the school.
DAY 12 (10/11/2022, Thursday)
Reached the
school at 9:10am and signed the attendance register. Dhanya miss visited our
school for observation. Teacher asked us to arrange first four periods for
observation. I collected the signature of Mini teacher in today’s lesson plan
and teacher gave me second period in 8L for observation. Dhanya teacher checked
our lesson plans. In the second period, Dhanya teacher observed my class at 8L.
I could confidently take the class. The students were very co-operative. After
the class Dhanya miss suggested that I had good voice modulation, classroom
management and teacher movement was satisfactory, teacher pupil interaction was satisfactory
and black board writing was neat and legible but I had to reduce the speed
during the presentation and I had to avoid ppt if there was no projector in the
class and I had to switch to other learning aids. After the class, there was an
eye testing camp at seminar hall and we were assigned the duty to arrange the
students to the seminar hall. After the lunch break I had 8L class at the 5th
period. The topic ‘Taxonomy and Taxonomic Key’ was taken during the class. ICT
was properly used. After the class, we were assigned the duty to distribute
milk to the students of std 5 to 8. Today class ended at 2:30pm and after that
there was a ‘Janakeeyacharcha’ regarding curriculum reform. We were assigned
the duty of registration of the programme. We collected the names of the
parents coming to the meeting. After
5 ‘O’ clock we left the school.
DAY 13 (11/11/2022, Friday)
Reached the
school at 9:10am and signed the attendance register. I collected the signature
of Mini teacher in today’s lesson plan. A senior teacher of the school asked me
to attend 8E class on the first period and take their attendance. I took the
attendance of 8E class. I had 8L class at the third period. Before the third
period on the first interval the students of 8L class collected their biology
notebook and kept it on the library. The topic ‘Contributions of Scientists in
the history of Taxonomy’ was taken on the class. The group activity given to
them was interesting. After the class, I checked the notebooks and then I make
a list of students who donot complete their notes. I asked the students to
complete the notes on Monday itself. At 12:30pm we served the mid day meal for
the students. After the lunch break I had no classes. At 5th period
I visited 9A class for the peer observation of Drishya’s class. The class was
good and Drishya had good voice modulation and a very good content knowledge.
But she has to pay more attention in classroom management. After 3:30pm we left
the school.
