Teaching Practice : Weekly Experience (First Week)


 



DAY 1 (26/10/2022, Wednesday)

Today was the first day of my teaching practice. I reached GHSS, Varkala at 9:10am. We signed the attendance register with the permission of the concerned teacher. We were allotted to be at at the school library. Around 10:00am there was a flash mob at the school ground conducted by SPC Unit in collaboration with ‘Yodhav’ of Kerala Police. It was really a visual treat and an informative one. The students performed very well. I had 9J class at the third period. It was my first class. The students were really co-operative and interactive. It was really a wonderful experience for me. At 12:30 we served mid day meal to the children. After that we had our lunch. After the lunch break there was a staff meeting at the seminar hall and we, the student teachers were also asked to join the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was School Parliament Election. In the meeting the teacher who has the charge of election  described about the election procedure. The School Parliament Election is decided to conduct on October 28 2022. The school also follows the democratic election system of our country. There were 2 agents and 4 polling officers from each class. The ID card and slip containing admission number and name of students can be used as identity proof for election. The school authorities asked the active participation of student teachers during the election procedures. After that we were given the duty to collect the names of polling officers from each class. After 3:30pm we leaved the school. The first day in school was really an interesting and different experience for me.


DAY 2 (27/10/2022, Thursday)

Yet another wonderful day of my teaching practice. Reached the school at 9:10am. Then we signed the attendance and went to the library. I didn’t have classes at the morning section. I collected sign from the concerned in the lesson plan for taking today’s class. Then I did some works of lesson plans. After the lunch break I have class at 8L on fifth period. The whole class was very energetic. Everyone did the activities properly. I used ICT for explaining the topic. The class was taken on the topic Modern Agricultural Practices. After the class there was a quiz programme organised by Vidyarangam Kalasahithyavedhy at the seminar hall and we were assigned the duty to control the participants and checking their answers. The whole quiz programme was really informative for us also. After that I and Archana were assigned the duty to help the teachers for sorting and checking the election materials for each class for the School Parliament election decided to conduct on October 28 2022. We sorted the materials and arrangethem on the paper bags with the name of each class. After 3:30pm we leaved the school.



DAY 3 (28/10/2022, Friday)

Today was the School Parliament Election day in our school. Reached the school at 9.10 am and the signed the attendance register. Mini teacher asked me to go to booth no. 13 (8A), where 8A and 8B do their votes. I was assigned the charge of 8A because their class teacher was on leave. Then I give them voting slips as identity proof that contain the name of the class, roll no., name of students and my signature. Mini teacher and I then arranged the booth. We stick the concerned names ie, polling officers, presiding officer, polling agents etc at correct places and arranged the election equipments. Mini teacher was the presiding officer of booth no. 13. There was 3 polling officers for each booth and 2 polling agents. The first polling officer checks the identity proof of voters and then read their names loudly, at that time the polling agents mark the names of voters at their given list. The second polling officer apply ink to the finger of voters. The third polling officer gives the slips for voting and monogram. Then the voters goes to space allotted for voting which is covered using binds and then put the voting slips in concerned boxes. Each booth was guarded by SPC and NCC cadets. The polling officers do their votes through postal ballot. After completion of election in each booth, the presiding officer along with polling officers goes to seminar hall and then handover the election box and other documents. Mini teacher, I and polling agents goes to seminar hall and handed over the things there. After completion of voting procedure, counting starts. The votes of 8A and 8B was counted by Mini teacher and I in the presence of candidates and the results was declared. I have no classes on the day. The whole election procedure was very systematic and well organised. It was done completely in democratic way. It was really a different experience for me. I was firstly experiencing such an election in a school. Conducting such programmes will provide a lot of experience to students and we all really enjoyed it. We are really lucky to be a part of the School Parliament Election of Govt. H.S.S. Njekkad.




DAY 4 (29/10/2022, Saturday)

Today was the last working day of this week. Reached school at 9.10 am and signed the attendance register. HM asked us to write down the informations of parents who comes to the PTA meeting of 10th standard. The PTA meeting starts at 10am. I have 8L class at third period. The class was taken on the topic cultivation without using soil. ICT was used for presentation. Students were active during the whole class. Today’s school time ends at 12.30pm and after that we went to college for the purpose of getting signature in the record.
